Boy, does it feel nice to be back at school! The break was needed and I'm ready to be back! The week back from Christmas Break brings a lot of common assessments. Common assessments are a way for teachers to monitor your student's progress. This is done 3 times a year. In 7th grade Language Arts students give me a writing sample and take the Star test. By looking at the writing sample, I can look at this and be able to see where your student is at in their writing. This also tells me what I need to teach or reteach. The Star test is about a 15 minute test to see your student's reading level. Poetry is going well, however, it will be coming to an end soon. Your student will be making a poetry book with all the different poems they have written. It always is fun to see their finished product like this.

Write 5 limericks--one about themselves, one about a friend, and 3 about any subject they choose. Due 1/6
